Care Manager Job Description
As a Care Manager with JR Care, you will take overall responsibility for the delivery of high-quality, regulated home care services across your designated area. This involves direct oversight of care staff, regular quality and compliance checks, and the day-to-day management of care plans, risk assessments, and client relationships.
You’ll act as the key point of contact for clients, their families, and external professionals — including GPs, social workers, and hospital discharge teams. You’ll also be responsible for the ongoing supervision and development of your care team, ensuring every member receives the training, support, and performance management they need to deliver outstanding care.
Responsibilities as a Care Manager
As a JR Care Care Manager, your core responsibilities will include:
Managing, supervising, and developing a team of care assistants and live-in carers across Edinburgh, West Lothian, Midlothian and East Lothian
Leading care assessments and developing person-centred care plans for new and existing clients
Overseeing compliance with Care Inspectorate standards and JR Care's internal quality framework
Managing care rotas, staffing levels, and allocation of care visits to ensure continuity and quality of service
Acting as the first point of escalation for safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints — managing these in line with regulation
Building and maintaining positive, professional relationships with clients, families, and partner agencies
Conducting regular client and staff reviews, documenting outcomes accurately and feeding back to the wider management team
Supporting recruitment, induction, and ongoing professional development for your team
What We Look For
To be considered for a care manager role at JR Care, you’ll typically bring:
- Proven experience in a senior care or care management role within a regulated setting
- SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) — or active progress towards it
- A current PVG certificate and registration with the SSSC
- Strong working knowledge of the Care Inspectorate’s scrutiny and assurance processes
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- A genuine commitment to person-centred, dignified care
