Live-In Care Job Description
As a JR Care live-in carer, you’ll provide round-the-clock support to an individual in their own home across Edinburgh, West Lothian, Midlothian or East Lothian. You’ll follow a personalised care plan that covers everything from morning routines and meals to medication, mobility, companionship, and overnight presence.

Responsibilities as a Live-In Carer
As a JR Care live-in carer, you will be responsible for:
Providing full personal care — washing, dressing, grooming, and continence support — with sensitivity and respect for the individual's dignity and preferences
Planning and preparing all meals and drinks to dietary needs, medical requirements, and personal tastes
Managing medication prompting and recording, and liaising with the care coordinator regarding any changes or concerns
Supporting the individual's mobility, including use of moving and handling equipment where required
Providing meaningful companionship, social engagement, and emotional support throughout the day — and overnight presence and response as needed
Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the individual's living environment
Completing daily care records accurately and reporting any observed changes in health or behaviour to the JR Care coordinator promptly
Building a trusted, respectful relationship that supports the individual to feel safe, valued, and in control of their own life

- A willingness to complete JR Care’s live-in care training programme
